I recommend trying playing Am7 and Cmaj7 barring the 5th fret. Since you can just play the top 4 high strings you can simply play Am7 like so: xx5555 and for Cmaj7 just add a finger to 7th fret high E like so: xx5557. I like playing it this way, it’s just a tip 🙂
