In this guitar lesson, we’re joined by Victor Guidera from Recordeo to talk about miking a guitar amplifier. Correctly using a microphone on a speaker can be an art in and of itself. So in this video, Victor will show you exactly how to get started and how to capture a great guitar sound.
The primary thing we’ll be looking at is microphone placement. While different microphones can all sound very different from one another, we’ll be focusing on how placing the mic in different locations can greatly impact the sound.
Listen to the sound clips in the video and you’ll get to hear the different placements we covered in this video. This should give you a good starting place for miking your amplifier to get the guitar sound you’re after.
Excellent! Always a fun part of recording AND performing. Then once you have it “nailed”, you’ll still need to tweak it here and there as needed. So many factors involved with room acoustics as well. Great video!
