For as long as I have been playing the guitar I have been training with the following method.
First I create a backing track with an improvised chord progression.
Then I start playing an improvised solo on top of it.
This kind of training will take your playing to the next level if done consistently. In time you’ll start finding novel ways of using the most basic pentatonic shapes and you ear develops as you progress.
From now on I’ll share my training material with you guys. I’ll post a new backing track with a few improvised solo ideas every week or so.
Tablatures / backing tracks are below:
Easy
Intermediate
Advanced
Backing track:
Verse:
Am | F | C | G
Am | F | C | G
Chorus:
F | C | G
F | C | G
